Whitehorse, Yukon – The Yukon Hospital Foundation will present the third annual Epicurious, Gourmet Food Festival on January 27 to benefit its campaign to purchase a Magnetic Resonance Imaging – or MRI machine – for Whitehorse General Hospital.
Epicurious will feature 19 local chefs, Yukon College and Skills-Canada Yukon culinary and restaurant service students and celebrity chef Lynn Crawford in a ‘celebration of food’ at the Yukon Convention Centre that allows event attendees to explore the culinary offerings of each participating chef.
In addition, Chef Crawford will spend a day working with - and mentoring - the students and will present their dish at the evening event.
“We’re pleased to once again work with our community partners to bring together our finest local chefs and welcome Chef Lynn Crawford as our guest and mentor,” said Yukon Hospital Foundation President Scott Kent.
A native of Toronto, Chef Crawford has received acclaim from both food media and food lovers, has established herself as a tremendous culinary presence in Canada and is a favourite on the Food Network shows ‘Restaurant Makeover’ and ‘Pitchin’ In’.
“Events like Epicurious assist in our efforts to raise both funds and awareness for the work we do at the Foundation to help our hospital provide the very best health care possible for Yukon residents right here, close to home,” continued Kent.
“An MRI at our hospital has significant impacts for patients and health care professionals including dramatically reduced wait times for a scan and reduced costs and patient stress levels associated with traveling outside the territory for this test,” said Kent.
Tickets for Epicurious are $50.00 and available at the High Country Inn or by calling 393.8930. All proceeds benefit the MRI Campaign.
