WHITEHORSE, Yukon —The 3rd Annual Skookum Asphalt Pro-Am Golf Charity Tournament held recently at the Mountain View Golf Club brought the Yukon Hospital Foundation’s campaign $75,000 closer to purchasing the first Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine north of 60.
Thanks to the generosity of our amazing sponsors and participants, 100% of those funds will go towards our MRI campaign.
“It takes a community to raise funds,” said Yukon Hospital Foundation President Krista Prochazka, “and thanks to the generosity of our community, we were able to raise an incredible $75,000 after event expenses.”
Over 140 players from Yukon, British Columbia and Alberta played side-by-side with 24 professional golfers from the Canadian Professional Golfers’ Association (CPGA).
“At Skookum Asphalt, we are pleased to sponsor this great sporting event and to support Yukon Hospital Foundation’s drive to purchase the new MRI machine,” said Chris Simons, Division Manager. “Everyone who supported this event helped make a real difference to the future of local healthcare. From the first tee-off at 8:00 a.m. to the last dancer on the dance floor they gave it their all!”
Yukon Hospital Foundation Chair Darrell Stone added, “We want to thank the signature sponsor, Skookum Asphalt, for their continued and ongoing support, as well as all of the day’s sponsors. We are so grateful for the unprecedented number of companies and individuals supporting the event this year; it’s because of them we are able to commit so much to this important campaign.”
The Yukon Hospital Foundation was established in 2005 to support quality health care right here, close to home. Currently, the Foundation is in year two of a three year campaign to raise $2 million in support of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine for the Whitehorse General Hospital. To date, thanks to our partners, donors and event attendees the Yukon Hospital Foundation has raised over $4 million for our hospital. The Foundation has also committed to support the purchase of medical equipment for the Watson Lake Hospital and the Dawson City Hospital.
The Skookum Asphalt Charity Pro-Am is one of the Yukon Hospital Foundation’s major annual fundraising events, and has become an event to look forward to each summer. Dates for the 2013 Charity Pro-Am will be announced shortly. The Northwestel Festival of Trees will open on Thursday, November 22, 2012.
