Charity Golf Tournament Raises Over $8,000 for Hospital’s Maternity Ward

Whitehorse, Yukon – The Bankers and Friends Charity Golf Tournament held on June 25 at Mountain View Golf Club raised $8,750 for the Yukon Hospital Foundation’s Little Treasures Fund to purchase three infant resuscitators for Whitehorse General Hospital’s Maternity Ward.

“The Yukon Hospital Foundation’s Little Treasures Fund was specifically established to encourage donations to the maternity and paediatric wards at Whitehorse General Hospital,” said Yukon Hospital Foundation Chair Darrell Stone. “We so appreciate the efforts and enthusiasm of all the volunteer organizers who came together from local banks and professional firms to make this wonderful event happen and help address the critical equipment needs of our hospital.”

The Neopuff Infant T-Piece Resuscitators are light-weight, stand alone resuscitator units that safely inflate babies’ lungs and allow infants to receive consistent breath patterns when needed.

Over 60 golfers participated in the day-long tournament.

The Yukon Hospital Foundation raises funds to purchase state-of-the-art diagnostic medical equipment for Whitehorse General Hospital.

In addition to the Little Treasures Fund, the Foundation is embarking on the second year of its three- year fundraising campaign to purchase a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine for Whitehorse General Hospital that will see wait times for Yukon residents requiring a non-critical MRI scan reduced from an average of six months to a matter of weeks.
